Program's Purpose
Recognizing the current needs of the hospitality industry, Serving Up! will systematically prepare well-trained wait and banquet staff. Under the guidance of Tyrone Howard, Serving Up! will equip the disadvantaged of New Orleans seeking employment opportunities as wait and/or banquet staff with sought-after service training that will enable them to succeed in developing a viable career path.
Serving Up! is not merely job training, it’s career training.
Skills acquired through Serving Up!’s rigorous 12-week training program will qualify participants for higher paying positions and prime opportunities within New Orleans’ hospitality industry. Given the opportunity and expert training, graduates of Serving Up! can go on to earn a respectable average annual income of $40-60,000.
Training is free to students to ensure this opportunity benefits those in greatest need. Serving Up! recruits individuals who are:
- Unemployed or underemployed
- Low income
- First-time nonviolent offenders
- Searching for an opportunity to advance into career paths
All candidates are screened for compatibility with the hospitality customer service industry before being accepted into the program.
